This is our first camping trip in our new motor home.

We arrived at the park about one hour early and could not check in until 11:00. We had to park in the area where campers are stored. What a way to wait. We have food, air conditioning and a bathroom. Who could ask for more.

This is a very nice and very large park. They have nearly 500 sites. We got a site that you back into. It is right on the water. What a great view. Hurricane Ivan took down most of the trees. New trees have been planted but they are very small. On Saturday, when we arrived, it was very warm but on Sunday it was very cool.

Dad and Doris came out in their motor home. They couldn't park by us because they were late coming. They had to park near the main road. We made a special dinner. After dinner, we played sequence and visited. We really had a good time. They didn't stay as long as we did.

Gulf State is a great park for walking or riding bikes. Since I was taking radiation, I chose to just go walking. My energy was not there for riding bikes.

We had fun cooking since this was our first time out. Lou enjoyed reading and I enjoyed crocheting. We both enjoyed the rest. It was really hard to leave to go back to work.

It is better to have reservations at this park especially in the winter and spring. There is no limit on the lenght of time you can stay at Gulf State in the winter and spring. In the summer, you can only stay for two weeks. The snowbirds fill this park up in the winter.

This is going to be a great life!
